University of Santo Tomas continued its momentum going into the semis against University of the Philippines in UAAP Season 82, with that, the tigers kept its campaign in the men’s basketball tournament.
The Growling Tigers’ performance resulted to a blowout win, 89-69, over the Fighting Maroons in the second stage of the stepladder semifinals on Sunday at Araneta Coliseum, forcing a decider match for the spot in the championship round.
The fourth-seeded UST defeated the No. 3 Far Eastern University the earned them to advance in the next round of the stepladder.
No. 2 UP was waiting in the semis and needed only one win to advance in the finals for the second season in a row.
As reflected in the elimination round, the UST defeated UP registering 85-69 in the first round and 84-78 in the second round.
Looking to continue its winning streak, The UST is set to face UP on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Mall of Asia Arena. The winner will advance to the finals and will play against the unbeaten Ateneo de Manila University.
