Dubai taxi passengers has the ability to know fares prior to starting the ride. This innovation launched by Dubai’s RTA (Road and Transport Authority), also called Tech Taxi, which will benefit taxi passengers as this allows them to use value-added services via free Wi-Fi that is available on board.
Khalid Al Awadi, the director of transportation system at RTA, told Khaleej Times, “When they use the free WiFi for browsing, they will also get some value-added services. They can set their destination, instead of describing to the driver where they want to go. We are using Google technology for this.”
More than that, RTA discloses that Tech Taxi is utilizing Google translate in over 26 languages, in this regard, passengers can communicate properly with their driver.
Lastly, passengers can also share their live location with their relatives and loved ones, tracking them online.
The director said in a statement that the goal is to expand tech taxi to 10,000 by the end of the year.
