MANILA – Three Filipinos sustained minor injuries after a bridge collapsed into a harbor in northeastern Taiwan on Tuesday, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) said, citing local authorities.
The Filipino welfare officer went to the hospital to check on the victims, Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) Director Gerry de Belen said.
“From what I experienced here, in my limited stay, this was [the] first time that such a big infrastructure was reported to have collapsed,” he told ANC’s Dateline Philippines.
“Their infrastructure is quite sturdy because they have a very intensive highway system here.”
The reason for the collapse in clear weather is still under investigation.
