Christian Standhardinger took no time adjusting with his new team as he made a positive impact in his very first game wearing NorthPort’s jersey in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
His first game was against his former team, San Miguel Beermen, making the experience bitter-sweet fot the big man.
Standhardinger stars with 18 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and two steals as NorthPort demolishes Dezmine Wells and the Beermen, 127-119.
It was an unusual game for the sophomore Standhardinger as he was playing his first game with his former team after being traded, but this does not distract him from proving why he is the top overall pick in the 2017 draft.
“I have to prove to them that I think they made a mistake,” he said afterwards. “I got to be the player I can be and play my heart out to prove to the (San Miguel) coaching staff, to coach Leo (Austria) that he could have played me more. I could have more. And now that’s how it is.”
The dedication and hard work earned Standhardinger the runaway choice for the PBA Press Corps-Cignal Player of the Week, October 21-27.
