20 victorious Federal National Council (FNC) were guaranteed seats in the parliament as the final list of elected FNC members was approved on October 13, Sunday.
After reviewing six appeals filed against the candidates, the National Election Committee (NEC) approved the list from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, and Ajman, according to an official at Sharjah NEC.
The six appeals were rejected due to insufficient strong evidence that would retract the preliminary results.
Another 20 members will be appointed by the rulers of all Emirates to complete the 40 seats for the coming legislative cycle of the FNC.
The committee commended the unending support from the UAE leadership as the election period comes to end.
Abdul Rahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of FNC Affairs and Chairman of the NEC, stated, “Today, we celebrate another milestone in the UAE’s political development journey. Our parliamentary system is maturing with every election towards empowering all citizens to choose their candidates.”
