MMDA prioritizes the (Metropolitan Manila Development Authority) restoration of the ferry system in Pasig River to improve public mobility, according to spokesperson Celine Pialago on Thursday.
“Kahit kailan ho hindi nawala sa plano at priority ng MMDA ang pagpapaayos at pagpapaganda ng Pasig River Ferry System natin,” Pialago said in an interview with GMA.
Furthermore, MMDA spox said that most of the passenger boats as of the moment are undergoing repair because of water hyacinths and trash from the river that damaged the propellers.
“May plano ho ang MMDA na magtayo ng docking facility. Magkakaroon ho tayo ng rehabilitation sa ilang ferry stations,” she said.
“Kapag operational lahat ang passenger boats natin, 500 na pasahero ang nake-cater nito every day,” she added.
Meanwhile, Senator Sonny Angara recently prosed to maximize the Pasig ferry system to ease the transportation dilemma in Metro Manila.
Angara insisted the ferry line can cater passengers from Pasig to Mandaluyong, Makati, and Manila.
Lastly, the ferry system’s management reported only two boats are operational on Wednesday.
