DUBAI – Philippine Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Corpuz Abella is coming to Dubai this year. FilClub chairman Engr. Tata Dayot confirmed just recently that the said official will be attending this year’s Bayanihan celebration.

Being a Davaoeño like Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the FilClub chairman is excited to have Abella come to the Emirate.

“I know the OFWs [overseas Filipino workers] in Dubai will be very happy to know that one of the President’s key persons will grace the event,” the FilClub chairman told Kabayan Weekly.

Dayot further said that everyone is waiting for President Duterte to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With Abella’s presence, it will make up for the anticipation of the people who have been supporting the President all this time.

“I am a Davaoeño who supported President Duterte, too. The Bayanihan Festival 2017 will be featuring our President,” she added.

The Bayanihan Festival 2017 will be on Friday, December 15, at the Dubai World Trade Center. The official logo was launched last Thursday, September 14, designed by Plivia Alaba at Fiesta Pinoy Restaurant, Dubai.

FilClub Vice Chairman Ericsson Reyes said other Philippine officials are also expected to come along with the Presidential Spokesperson.

“Abella’s visit will be a huge significance as it will be the first time in history that an official from the Malacañang will be joining the biggest celebration in Dubai, which is the Bayanihan Festival. His visit will bring not only hope but sincerity on how our President Duterte loves the OFWs,” he told Kabayan Weekly.

The FilClub Vice Chairman said that through Abella, the overseas Filipinos in the UAE hope that their wish of being visited by President Duterte reaches the 16th President of the Philippines.

Previous presidential visits to the Middle East early this year did not include the UAE,  He visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), Qatar, and Bahrain.

He met with the respective leaders of each country to discuss and sign bilateral agreements concerning the overseas Filipinos living in each country.

The Philippine President met with King Salam bin Abdulaziz Al Saud from KSA, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa from Bahrain, and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani from Qatar from April 10 to April 16, this year. His visit was pivotal as many stranded Filipinos were able to go back home in the Philippines.
