Manila Mayor Isko Moreno criticizes the driver who dragged a 21-year-old traffic enforcer along Laong-Laan St. in Sta Cruz after apprehended for disregarding lane marking.
Orlando Ricardo Dizon Jr., 54, is detained when he faced Mayor Isko and Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) enforcer Adrian Lim.
“Nagawa mong mag-kotse, hindi mo kayang magbayad ng penalty? Papaano kung napatay mo ‘yung traffic enforcer namin?…May pamilya rin ‘yun,” Mayor Isko said, noting that the fine was only P500.
“Natatawa ako rito e. Naka-afford magka-kotse. Hindi kayang magbayad ng penalty, P500 lang ‘yun. Para sa P500 kaya niyang pumatay ng enforcer,” he added.
The Manila mayor is urging the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to take away Dizon’s privilege to drive following the incident.
“Wala kayong puwang dito sa Maynila kung ganiyan ang ugali niyo,” Mayor Isko said.
He further noted that Dizon had a criminal intent to kill or, at least, hurt the traffic enforcer whom he dragged 300 meters.
“May criminal intent. Nakita ko (sa CCTV footage) winawasiwas niya,” Mayor Isko said.
Moreover, Moreno expressed sympathy for the traffic enforcer after watching the CCTV footage.
“Naawa ako todits e. Alam mo ‘yung kapit niya. Hindi ‘yun para hulihin siya. ‘Yun ‘yung kapit para iligtas niya ang sarili njya. Hindi e, winawasiwas pa nito,” he said.
Lastly, the Mayor commended the dedication of Lim to his job as traffic authority despite his meager salary.
