Etisalat Changes Network Name to Mark FNC


The country’s telecom giant, Etisalat, changed their network name to ‘UAE Votes’ on Monday, September 30, to mark the Federal National Council (FNC) election that will transpire on October 5, 2019.

At least 495 Emiratis are battling for the 20 seats for the FNC, with the remaining 20 places on the legislative council appointed by ruling sheikhs from the emirates.

Totaling to 133 candidates hailing from Abu Dhabi, with the second most Dubai, 88 – Sharjah with 61 – Ras al Khaimah with 61 – Fujairah with 53 — Ajman with 26 and Umm Al Quwain with 20.

More than 337,738 Emiratis will vote during the election; remarkably making a 50.58 percent incline from 224,281 Electoral College members in 2015.
