Award-winning author shares creative writing technique for Dubai writers

Lisa O’Donnell, author of Commonwealth Book-Prize winner, The Death of Bees, mentors 15 aspiring local writers at Emirates Literature Foundation.

The course is made possible in association with Curtis Brown Creative, the creative writing school of major UK literacy agency Curtis Brown.

“Creative writing is an important space. It opens the door to all kinds of voices telling all kinds of stories.It has been a joy to facilitate that space and I am so grateful to the Emirates Literature Foundation and Curtis Brown Creative for organising it,” O’Donnell said.

Course attendee, Afshan Aysha shared her thoughts on the educational experience, “It was an incredible three day experience packed with lots of writing experience. Lisa is a wonderful mentor who knows how to make you begin the journey of writing. The course gave me the opportunity to meet wonderful writers who inspired creativity. Thank you Lisa and Emirates Literature Foundation team for the wonderful experience.”

The sold-out course attracted writers of all age from Dubai’s multicultural community.
