UPDATE: Authorities reported on Sunday that the amusement park in Pasay City shows it was deliberately set on fire.
Collected evidences and samples inside the blazed Star City leads to arson, Pasay City Fire Marshal Paul Pili told reporters.
An inspection reveals that the gutted park showed “gasoline in an area where it should not be.”
The fire was believed to have started in the stockroom of soft toys and assorted prizes. Flames rapidly spread to the other parts of the building as neighboring establishments were partly damaged. The fire was brought under control at 4:30 am (Manila time).
Pili stated that a certain Mr. Wong along with others went into the amusement park with sacks of cotton on the day the fire happened. However, these personnel did not log in.
Moreover, Pili noted that the way fire burned down Star City can only be viewed as arson.
“Bakit hindi nag-logbook? Nag log-book siya pero hindi niya ni-logbook mga kasama niya,” Pili added.
