Starting December 1, 2019, Federal Tax Authority (FTA) will start implementing Excise tax on electronic smoking devices and tools, sweetened beverages, and cigarettes.

Ministry of Finance said, a minimum of AED 0.40 Excise tax must be applied per cigarette stick and a minimum of AED 0.10 must be charged per gram of pipe tobacco, ready-to-use tobacco or similar product.

FTA reminded the stakeholders to register for the tax right away to avoid fines.

UAE first introduced excise tax on October 2017 on products which are known to harm the environment and not good for the health. This will further increase government revenues used to cover for public services.
