A solution to the traffic in Sharjah

Sharjah’s traffic problems might be solved by the driverless skypod transport system, which is currently tested at Sharjah Research, Technology, and Innovation (SRTI) Park.

The inauguration, headed by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, of the first phase of the development and the testing of the Skyway Project, as the transport system featured a 400 meter hanging rail.

The initiative further plans to build an expanded track, moreover, it seeks to provide as the main transport system for the campus of the American University in Sharjah (AUS), according to SkyWay GreenTech, the company behind the project’s development.

“The skypod is definitely being considered a viable public transport solution in Sharjah,” SRTI spokesperson said.

“This was the first practical application of this type of modern mobility in the region and will be adopted as part of a comprehensive plan to transform Sharjah into a sustainable and futuristic metropolis,” the spokesperson added.
