PMA Head Resigns Over Cadet’s Hazing Death

UPDATE: The death of cadet Darwin Dormitorio has led to the resignation of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) head, Superintendent Lt. Gen. Ronnie Evangelista.

“In the military tradition of command responsibility, it is now the proper time for me as the head of institution together with the commander of cadets to relinquish our respective positions,” he told reporters in Baguio City. As Brig. Gen. Bartolome Bacarro also stepped down as commandant of cadets.

Evangelista also stated that, “I will do all that is left to be done while I wait for the official orders”

Freshman cadet Darwin Dormitorio died, Wednesday, after he was hospitalized multiple times due to stomach pain.
