The child protection mobile app, Hemayati, recorded 20, 000 residents reporting about child abuse, consultation, and inquiry with regards to the services, since January 2018.
The Hemayati app allows children to send notifications to their parents when they are in danger.
It also serves as a tracker for the parents.
The UAE Ministry of Interior (MoI) reported that at least 20,750 people have benefited their Hemayati application since last year.
The application is available in Apple Store and Google play.
“It enables users to report child abuse cases and the identity of the victims is kept confidential,” said an officer from the ministry.
Moreover, “The ministry launched the toll-free (116111) hotline in 2015 to receive reports of child abuse or suspected child abuse and ensure children’s safety and protection.”
