Manila – UAE’s Ivy Grace Paredes and Karl Aris Tanhueco, became the grand winner and 1st runner-up, respectively in DZMM’s ‘Global Pinoy Singing Idol’. The grand finals was held last February 3 at the Resorts World – Manila. Saori Matsuo of Japan bagged 2nd runner-up place.
There were six contenders: two from each country (US, Japan and UAE) and were selected after the world caravan of the Kapamilya singing competition.
Paredes, a native from Bukidnon is one of the notable Dubai-based Filipino artists. She made headlines after entering, and then later discontinued her X-Factor UK quest in 2016.
She belted Whitney Houston’s “All the Man that I Need” with a special appearance of her Papa Nestor.
Tanhueco is from Angeles City, Pampanga and had been working as a singer in Dubai for the past two years. He took-on the song “This is the Moment” popularized by Erik Santos.
Santos is one of the judges alongside Ogie Alcasid and Annie “Teacher Annie” Quintos. It was hosted by Winnie Cordero and Ahwel Paz.
Angeline Quinto, Sue Ramirez and talent-search winners “Boyband PH” were among the special performers during the championship night.
Both Paredes and Tanhueco will be back in Dubai for their respective commitments.
