Abu Dhabi – Members of the Society of Human Resource Professionals and Associates or SHRPA held the first of many Learning Journey and Team building events last March 31, Friday, at the City Seasons Hotel in the capital, spearheaded by its Learning and Development (L &D) committee.
The day’s session was integrated with a variety of team building initiatives to strengthen the relationships among Filipinos whose inclinations are in the human resource (HR) sector and administration.
“Our objectives for the gathering is to learn and understand the transformation and growing demand of HR in businesses; to enhance leadership and management skills in addressing day-to-day HR issues; and learn the challenges of becoming global HR and the importance of having HR professional certification,” SHRPA president Jay-Mar Ismael told Kabayan Weekly.
Topics highlighted in various sessions focused on HR and Admin professional mapping, HR as a Leader, and Strategic Career Management and HR certifications. Invited speakers took the lead to impart the basic information, recent updates and the future demands of the field.
According to Jose Koska – Director of L & D of SHRPA there is a greater demand of HR in the information technology sector nowadays and not only admin is taking the role.
“Anyone can become an HR person, which doesn’t require him/her to finish an HR degree,” he said, stressing that as long as an individual has the commitment and dedication to lead as an HR staff, he/she could even take further certifications to become a professional HR manager or staffer.
“The role of SHRPA is to help aspiring Filipino HR professionals by means of preparing them for international exams, giving them free seminars and coaching methodologies,” Koska mentioned in an interview.
The group is not an accredited training provider but will be an avenue for members to get a thorough review in preparation for international HR exam and it has for its mission to target a 95% passing rate for their members taking the exams.
