DUBAI – Sharjah Pinoy Darters, which was organized early this year, is now aiming to unite Filipino dart enthusiasts and players in the United Arab Emirates.
With already over 40 all-Filipino members, Arnel Cena, chairman of the association, expressed gratitude for the growing number of attendance from the group.
“Ngayon malaki ang pasasalamat ko na dumadami kami . . . maraming nakikilala, maraming nagiging kaibigan sa programang ito,” Bautista told Kabayan Weekly.
The organization has also the goal to help Filipino especially in times of need.
“Kung may magandang sponsor din, pina-plano namin tumulong sa mga nangangailangan.
“Karamihan kasi dito is basketball. Gusto ko rin maka-buo ng team dito sa Sharjah [kasi] yung Dubai meron na, yung Abu Dhabi meron na. Sharjah na lang talaga ang wala pa,” he added.
For his part, Sports Coordinator Jun Ocray said he has supported the group because of the fun that the game brings to its players.
“Maraming mga Pinoy dito sa Sharjah na gusto ng kasiyahan, kaya malugod kaming maging way para makapag-serve at magbigay ng enjoyment sa kanila,” he said.
According to Ocray, they have conducted two tournaments this year – the First Single Killers Dart Tournament and the Second Single Dart Tournament.
Regil Polines was the champion of the recently concluded match held at Sharjah Sports Club on April 15.
Norman Lucihing, Rix Baylon and Arnel Bautista were the second, third and fourth placers, respectively.
The third dart tournament, which is exclusively for Filipinos, will resume in August, according to Bautista.
“We are actually planning to conduct the tournament isang beses sa isang buwan . . . maybe isang Friday sa isang month.
“Pwede sila [all Filipinos in the UAE] sumali sa aming organisasyon . . . samahan ng dart ay open para sa inyo. Same venue ulit,” he added.
