AL AIN—The UAE-based retail major Fathima Group opened its second hypermarket in Al Ain as part of its wider growth plans in the GCC retail scene.
Sheikh Mussallam Salem Bin Ham Al Ameri, member of the National Consultative Council, inaugurated the outlet in the presence of Fathima Group Chairman E.P. Moosa Haji, Managing Director E.P. Sulaiman Haji, and senior dignitaries.
The Group, with diversified businesses predominantly a chain of hypermarkets, supermarkets and department stores, is currently on a vast expansion mode. With the opening of the newest outlet, the Group reinforces itself firmly to the modern, customer-centric retail landscape of the region.
Fathima Group is rolling out seven new hypermarkets in the next few months looking for a wider market segment in the GCC and India. The new outlets will come up in Bur Dubai, Dubai Waterfront, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah in the UAE; Jeddah Haramain and Al Safa in Saudi Arabia; and Sobha City – Thrissur in India. These outlets would focus on grocery, fresh fruit and vegetables, electronics, household appliances, fashion garments, luggage and other daily need products with a product range tailored to the large multinational population in these regions.
The new hypermarket in Al Ain is located off Mohammed Bin Khalifah Street near Al Noor Modern Bakery in Al Qattara, and will serve residents in the vicinity and the surrounding areas as a one-stop destination for all shopping needs. The hypermarket is spread in three levels and combines everything from foodstuff including fresh fruits and vegetables, bakery to household and electronics, gadgets, health and beauty products, fashion garments, footwear and accessories, among other things.
“It is always a sense of pride for a business to grow; we are very pleased to open our second hypermarket here in Al Ain. We are extremely grateful to the visionary Rulers and people of this country, the foundation of our business that started out in 1968 in Abu Dhabi and grew together being encouraged in all our expansion strategies and efforts. With the aim to increase our presence, we have ventured into Al Ain a second time. We have seen a steady growth in our retail business and hope to keep the momentum. Over the years, we have achieved great success with over 3,000 employees and loyal customers,” said Moosa.
“The growth of Fathima retail chain is largely because of quality products with competitive pricing. We source products from suppliers around the world and has a strong logistical structure in place. Our dedicated service ensures customers a comfortable and wholesome shopping experience. And we hope this is the right time for us to open more hypermarkets to provide value to the customers,” he added.
For his part, Sulaiman said: “Our outlets always provide the widest range of quality and value-for-money products all under one roof. We are committed to ensuring great service and convenience to all our customers. Fathima Group also wants to be present in locations that would be beneficial to our customers.”
“Due to the availability of an extensive product line, our hypermarkets and supermarkets are popular among the local and expatriate communities. This gives us the encouragement to look for a wider market segment. We continue to look at further expanding our reach in the country and the GCC”, he added.
